Fighting Cancer with Valerie

Donation protected
I've started a donation fund for my beautiful cousin and dear friend, Valerie Stichweh and her family.  Valerie is battling stage 3 breast cancer along with cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes.

Val is quite possibly the sweetest person, the epitome of kindness, who also possesses the biggest heart of gold, that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.  She is a woman of God, a professional vocalist, and has used her beautiful talent and gift in the Spokane community to work with children battling cancer, along with other local hospitals and charities. Valerie frequently fulfilled wishes from very sick kids who wanted their very own fairytale princess to serenade them and shower them with love and affection. Unfortunately, it's sweet Valerie who needs our showering of love and affection now.

Valerie and her family need help with the vast amount of medical bills that have been building up since she was diagnosed late November in 2014.  A very special thank you to Laura Little Theatricals, and the community of CDA who have raised an astounding $1,953 for Valerie's medical care.  This generous gift helped to pay for Valerie's insurance and out of pocket medical costs for her care in 2014.

However, with a new year comes a new deductible and a new out of pocket maximum for Valerie's treatment. I am working closely with the family to determine explicitly what their needs are, and nothing more.  In addition to this diagnosis, and the cost of Valerie's medical care, they found out in December that they have a very dangerous mold situation in their home and have had to move out of their home indefinitely until it is repaired and deemed habitable.  Since Valerie's immune system is severely compromised, it will be a long time before she can go home.

They are temporarily living in one of our family member's homes, but this will only be for another couple of months.  The Stichweh's will then need to find another place to stay as a family.  In all likelihood, Valerie will not be able to return to her home for the duration of her treatment, which will be toward the end of 2015.

I've started a fundraising goal of $5,000, but may be raising the goal once I have a detailed list of the family's needs.  I will work with the family to provide 100% transparency of what any funds raised will be going toward.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love, prayers, and support.  Please keep all of your prayers coming.  They have and continue to help Valerie tremendoulsy during the biggest fight of her life, for her life.
