Last Wed evening, our daughter, Kiersten, was severely injured in a strange accident. She fell from her boyfriend's hay loft where they were storing things to keep the barn/shed uncluttered. She was up top & had just gotten the job done when she felt unbalanced & leaned back to stabilize herself against the wall of the structure ... BUT, she was standing with her back to the hay window and she fell to the hard pack gravel below ... Mario called the ambulance fearing a spinal or neck injury.
Praise GOD, such was NOT the case ... BUT, she received 5 broken or cracked ribs (3 on one side, 2 on the other), a punctured lung & broken wrist. [NOTE: more fractures noted, including scapula] She's been in the hospital (St Johns Peace & Health in Longview, WA) since Wed 10/26. She's likely to be out of work long enough to really fall behind while she's not getting paid [UPDATE: THANKS to her co-workers' generosity, trees are being shaken & possibilities explored to augment what's available to Kiersten.] She has limited sick leave at this time, she's a bit shy of having enough time to qualify for FMLA.
