Mersey initiative Rough Sleeping
I've always wondered what's the best way of helping the homeless, is it giving them money or is it giving them my time to try and help change a single person's life for the better. The problem on every ones mind is "where does the money go"? Does it go on food and drink? Not always. Does it go on vital products for personal hygiene? Not always, or does it go on drink and drugs? Many ideas went through my mind when I tried to help them. I care so much about helping them but a few pounds here and there isn't enough and I can't help all of them. Or can I? There are many homeless missions that rely only on donations, they receive no government grants and they supply not just homeless but any one with meals, drinks, toiletries and even appliances for those with homes. They are vital for the homeless community and they should be recognised more. This is why for 4 nights in late November I will be sleeping rough. Mostly alone but for 2 nights I aim to speak to some of these homeless to ask how they get by, and to ask just how vital these missions are to people. 1 night will be spent in wallasey, 2 nights in the heart of birkenhead talking to many homeless to discuss there day to day routines and 1 night based at the pier head in Liverpool to finish off my experience. During the nights I will video diary my experience and hopefully the Liverpool echo will be coming to visit me to document my experience. Every homeless person deserves the chance that chance to try and get by. By me doing this I hope to raise £5000 to be split between 2 missions, the Whitechapel Centre in Liverpool and the Charles Thompson mission in Birkenhead. If you've ever wondered like I have where our little generosity goes then it should be going here. It helps Every one homeless or people struggling to get by. Please help in anyway you can.
