Dear Friends and Family,

As you may know, Kiera was recently diagnosed with a rare and serious blood disease that has caused her bone marrow to fail (Very Severe Aplastic Anemia). Over the next few weeks, Kiera will need regular blood transfusions as her body cannot make her own red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets. She will undergo many tests to prepare her for a bone marrow transplant. We are currently waiting to see if Taylor (brother) or I can be her bone marrow donor.

Before her bone marrow transplant, Kiera will need chemotherapy and radiation. For several months following the transplant, Kiera will visit the hospital daily for medications, blood products, etc. She will need to be on immunosuppressive therapy for months after her transplant.

Many of you have generously reached out to ask how you can best support Kiera, Mike, and their girls during this time. To help ease the burden, we’ve created a GoFundMe to assist with the expenses that come with this situation, especially given the loss of Kiera’s income. In particular, the funds will be used for:

House Cleaning Services: Ensuring Kiera has a clean and safe environment to recover in.

Meal Deliveries from Red Apron: This local service offers carefully prepared meals for both adults and kids. Due to Kiera’s immuno-compromised state, she cannot eat home-cooked meals prepared by others. The Red Apron is certified to have restaurant quality sanitation, which is safe for Kiera.

Kids Activities: Day outings for the girls when Kiera is in the hospital or recovering at home.
