Help Kiera attend Ada !
I was accepted into Ada!
Ada Developers Academy is a training program located in Seattle, Washington for women and gender diverse people who want to become software developers. Ada is tuition-free and is comprised of 6 months of full-time classroom training followed by 5 months in a paid industry internship.
Despite Ada being a tuition free program, it is highly immersive and I will not be able to work. However, I'll still need to cover my living expenses for the first 7 months of the program. I have re-evaluated my budget many times to include only the necessities and monthly I will need $1800 to cover everything.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me. With this opportunity, it will not only change the trajectory of my life but, also my future children's lives and my community.
As a woman of color, I believe that my presence alone in the tech industry will empower people of color to believe that they have a place in this field, should never be discouraged, and should pursue careers in technology, if interested.
My Career goals
I have many goals that I want to accomplish in my lifetime, one of them is giving back to my community. In five years, I want to be working as a software developer for a company that shares the same values as I do (positivity, integrity, equity, good will, empowerment, giving back, community building). I also want to volunteer to help support local nonprofits in leveraging technology to maximize their impact on the community and/or the world.
I am asking for your help to get me through the classroom (February-August) portion of Ada.
I am very excited for this life changing journey. Please help me embark on this journey with peace of mind. I will be more than appreciative if you could donate whatever you can to help me achieve this goal.
Every little bit makes a difference.
Thank you so much!
Peace and Blessings,
Kiera Thomasson
