Kids Safety & Injury Prevention In Sport

Hi, my name is Adam, and I'm fundraising for 'Safe Sport For Kids'

My story is a long one, I've been super lucky to try my hand and play many different sports in my life so far, but the one thing with me is my luck with injury which hasn't gone my way. I've had 8 major surgeries including a major back surgery when I was 15 and many other diffrent injuries which have been mostly responsible from my time in sport. Leading to my hopes and dreams being crushed off playing professional sport. But through all this i dont hate sport i want to be there for the future generations and coach and support them through my experiences and love for it.

This leads to what I'm doing; in the hospital at the end of last year (2021) after my 2nd surgery of the week on two completely different injuries, i decided I needed to do something about my passions, and I came to the conclusion that I wanted to run a half marathon for charity which was a far stretch seeing the things I've been through and not being able to run or doing anything on hard surfaces for the past 8-9 years. Well, I teamed up with a great PT in January named Johnny from Rucci Gym, and we got to work. First, my recovery from my surgeries, then further injury prevention and giving my body strength to allow for my goals. This hasnt been a easy journey and I've come a long long way to where I am today to allow for my goal to happen.

Why Safe Sport For Kids Foundation?

I wanted to run for a foundation that means a lot and this one certainlty hit home. Safety and injury prevention and post injury rehabiliton is something a lot of people dont have the funding for which means they wont be able to follow their passions on into adult life. I was very lucky that I had great parents who supported me through physio and lots of time at the hospital which allowed me with the best chance to recover and I'm running to support the kids that dont have the funding they need to recover and get back to what they love.
