Kids Lacrosse Africa: Farming to Thrive

Kids Lacrosse Africa has always looked to develop the whole child - emotionally, physically, and socially. One of our dreams has been to establish and run a farm - a farm that our participants will use to learn crucial skills - responsibility, safety, problem-solving, hard work, and a greater appreciation for food and the environment.

Once sports careers come to a close, we want our players to have the right life skills to follow them through to adulthood.

GivingTuesday is November 30th - a global movement to unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. This year we are using GivingTuesday to kick off our fundraising efforts for the Kids Lacrosse Africa Farm.

The Farm would provide children with experience in a variety of areas:
  • Building rabbit hutches
  • Maintaining rabbit hutches and feeding rabbits
  • Breeding and caring for bunnies
  • Feeding goats and cleaning loafing house
  • Cultivating crops - vegetables, maize, beans

Our farm managers Aswaa and Pita are ready and excited to practice together with our kids to construct a standard Hutch, accommodating 40 pairs of rabbits. Each child will be responsible for 1 pair of bunnies, under supervision of the farm managers.

Kids Lacrosse Africa will use this fundraiser to support current and future needs:
  • Construct a hutch
  • Construct a loafing shade
  • 40 rabbits
  • 5 goats
  • Seeds for cultivation

After time on the Farm, kids will get to take home a pair of bunnies or kids, as well as seeds, enabling them to start a farm of their own at home. They will be able to practice more, and extend their knowledge to their communities.
