Kidneys for Love & Life
Donation protected
Friday, February 21, 2020 my sister, Jennifer Johnson will donate her kidney to her husband, Chuck Johnson at 10:30 am. This will be Chuck's second transplant.
Chuck has suffered FSGS Kidney Disease secondary to HUS, he got when he was 2 years old. Most likely from an ecoli infection. His sister Brenda did not survive this. He was on peritoneal dialysis when he was two, until his kidneys regained some function. He lived his life until about 16, when kidney symptoms started to show up. He was put on dialysis with complete failure when he was 27, in 2007.
Chuck and Jeni met in 2009, 2 months later he recieved a kidney from a live donor, Jason Gabriel.
His donor kidney gave him almost 10 years of life. In 2019 his kidney was affected by FSGS and his fiction declined to go back on dialysis. He chose to do peritoneal dialysis at home. This consists of 10 hour machine treatments per day and 14 hour swells throughout the day.
There was never a question whether or not Jeni would donate to him. God paved the way, and Jeni was 100% match for Chuck.
Surgery is scheduled for February 21, 2020. Chuck has been out of work for 3 months and Jeni will be out of work for a few weeks post surgery and taking care of Chuck post his surgery once he has recovered. His recovery is a much longer process depending on how everything goes. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, just to help with the expenses of everyday to day living.
We are also asking for gift cards for food, instead of meals, and errand runners for those who can help locally with the kids and chores.
Please lift them in prayer as they embark on the most beautiful journey of love and life. These two go above and beyond for everyone around them. Jeni is a special ed teacher at Nixon ISD, who gives her everyday to 11 kids with special needs. Chuck lives his everyday the most positive and brave as anyone I have ever met. I've never heard him complain, once in 10 years. I know that this was meant to be and am trusting in the perfect match, that it is already done.
