Cameron Needs a Kidney
Donation protected
Cameron and Emily have been through it all- Cameron's Medical costs for his dialysis come to approx. $3500 every 6 months. Our goal is to help him with those medical costs -OR- help him find a Kidney Donor
Cameron's Story:
In 2007, when Cameron was just 15 years old, he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure. The following year, he received a kidney transplant from his cousin. This kidney was never at 100% function for Cameron.
In 2010, he had a rejection episode. This is something that he could not prevent. A rejection episode is where the body decides that the transplanted organ is a foreign object and needs to be expelled. When this happened, they gave him steroids in attempt to stop the rejection and to save what kidney function they could. While this worked, it took 40% of his transplanted kidneys function.
In 2013, he got a bad infection in the kidney and had to go on antibiotics. Again, this was something he could not prevent. By this time, his transplanted kidney was down to 29% function.
Since then, Cameron got a new job at T-Mobile, in which he excels and is looking to apply for his second promotion in his first year there. During this time, he was also attending WCC, and planned to transfer to Western to earn his Business Degree.
At the end of March 2015, Cameron proposed to his long-time girlfriend.
On Sept 3, 2015, Cameron and Emily had the most beautiful wedding.
On April 12th, Cameron went in to the ER due to some warning signs. While there, he was told that his creatinine levels and blood pressure were very high, and his hematocrit and hemoglobin levels were extremely low. They started him on a transfusion, and sent them via ambulance to The University of Washington Medical Center. They carefully monitored Cameron's blood pressure, did several blood tests, and also took a biopsy of his transplanted kidney in the three days that they were there.
A very long approximately 28 hours later, we received news that there was nothing left to save of the kidney. His kidney had failed. Our next step was to look into dialysis. Cameron was discharged from the medical center, and started dialysis a few days later.
Cameron is receiving dialysis 3 times a week; 4hrs each time. As of Feb 2016, Cameron has 1 more appointment until he is officially active on the deceased donors list!
