Jacob's "Kidney4Jacob" Campaign
Donation protected
Two weeks ago we got the news that Jacob's kidney was failing. It's the type of news that no parent ever wants to hear. To make things worse, the doctor told us that given his condition and the amount of time that it would take for Jacob to wait on the donor list, our best bet was to use social media and hope that we find a donor in time.
Jacob (on the left above) and his brother Jimmy (on the right) both have a rare condition called Joubert Syndrome. One of the hallmarks of Joubert is the eventual failure of the kidneys or liver. So we knew this day would come eventually, but it doesn't make it any easier.
When we first thought about using social media to help find Jacob a donor, we thought it might not work because people who didn't know Jake might not view him as someone who is deserving of a kidney due to his condition. While we can't say that Jake's life is any more valuable than anyone else's, we can say that he means the world to his family and his friends. As a result, we're going to do everything possible to reach every nook and cranny of the Internet in hopes that someone will see this website or one of his social media accounts and reach out to us.
In order to reach the widest audience possible, we're trying to raise a little bit of money to use for Jacob's website and digital/social media campaign.
Please donate a few bucks to keep the buzz going!
