Hello everyone, my name is Nick, and I'm reaching out from Redding, California, with a story that's equal parts heartbreak and hope. My girlfriend Alyssa and I are both 39 years old, and we've been through more trials than most couples will thankfully ever have to. We've dated off and on since 8th grade—that's 25 years of shared history, starting when we were just 14. After some time apart, we've been solidly together for years now, building a life rooted in love, resilience, and our passions. But life has thrown us a curveball. Alyssa has been battling End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) for some time. Despite everything, she's an absolute warrior—she worked full-time during her first year of dialysis, but unfortunately, she had to stop working as the treatments became more demanding. It's exhausting, but her strength inspires me every day. We've always done things on our own, supporting each other through tough situations without much outside help. Now, we're taking the next big step: I'm donating one of my kidneys to Alyssa to give her a chance at a healthier life. We're about to start training for at-home dialysis, which will make things a bit easier logistically, but the road ahead is daunting. The transplant process means medical evaluations, surgeries for both of us, recovery time, and ongoing care. As two people who've been handling this solo, the expenses are piling up fast—hospital bills, medications, follow-up appointments, lost wages from time off work, and even home modifications for recovery and dialysis. At some point, we'll both need extra support and care, and without a strong safety net, it's overwhelming. We've dedicated our lives to healthy, organic living and the cannabis community. For years, we've been active supporters of cannabis advocacy, glass art, and promoting natural wellness. It's been our way of life—growing, sharing knowledge, and building connections in this space that means so much to us. But right now, our focus has to shift to survival and healing, and we can't do it alone. Your support would mean the world to us. Funds will go directly toward medical bills and transplant-related costs not covered by insurance, lost wages during recovery, home dialysis supplies and training expenses, post-surgery care including transportation, meals, and any necessary home aids, and any unexpected complications that arise. We've faced a lot—health scares, personal losses, and the daily grind of chronic illness—but our bond has only grown stronger. This kidney donation is my way of saying, "We're in this together, forever." If you've ever been touched by a story of enduring love or know the struggles of living with kidney disease, please consider donating or sharing our campaign. Every bit helps us focus on healing instead of worrying about bills. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Let's turn this chapter into one of triumph. With gratitude, Nick and Alyssa (Redding, CA – Cannabis and Glass Community Advocates)
