Hello, my name is Chaim Nelson Pibiri (Nelson Chauca), and this is my story. In 2014, I was diagnosed with Wegener’s granulomatosis (vasculitis), a rare autoimmune disease that severely damaged my kidneys. Despite ongoing treatment, my condition continued to progress, and by 2021, I was forced to begin dialysis. For four long years, dialysis controlled my life — physically, emotionally, and financially. Every week was filled with treatments, exhaustion, and uncertainty, while I waited and prayed for a transplant that might never come.

In December 2025, after four years on dialysis, I finally received the call that saved my life. I underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, giving me a second chance at life — something I will never take for granted. I am currently recovering from transplant surgery. My new kidney has started working, and I am producing urine, which is a very positive sign. Recovery takes time and requires close monitoring with frequent lab work, doctor visits, and lifelong anti-rejection medications. While I am incredibly grateful to be alive, the road to recovery comes with significant financial challenges.

Even with insurance, I am facing medical bills from surgery and hospitalization, lifelong anti-rejection medications, frequent lab work and specialist visits, transportation to medical appointments, time off work and lost income during recovery, and basic living expenses while healing. Right now, my focus must be on healing — but the financial stress makes that difficult.
