Tsion Kefeyalew’s life has always been about giving. After losing both parents at a young age, she became the backbone of her family, caring for her two younger brothers and elderly grandmother while still a teenager. At 15, Tsion left the country to work in Bahrain, supporting her loved ones and putting their needs before her own. Her selflessness and resilience have inspired everyone who knows her, especially her classmates from America Mission Girls School and friends from YBS.
Now, Tsion faces her greatest challenge yet. She is battling end-stage kidney failure and must undergo dialysis three times a week in Addis Ababa. The treatments are exhausting and painful, but Tsion continues to fight with the same determination she’s always shown. There is hope: her younger brother is a match and has offered to donate his kidney. Tsion has been medically cleared for a transplant in India, but the costs for surgery, medical care, travel, and recovery are overwhelming.
We are raising funds to cover transplant surgery, hospital and medical care, post-surgery medications, flights and travel, accommodation and recovery, and an emergency reserve. This fundraiser is organized by Tigist Alemu and friends who have seen firsthand the impact Tsion has had on her family and community. Tsion has always been the first to help others Now, it’s our turn to support her. Every donation will go directly toward her transplant, recovery, and related expenses. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser will help us reach more people who care. Thank you for standing with Tsion and giving her the chance to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
For those living in Ethiopia who would like to donate, you can deposit your donation into her Ethiopian bank account.
