"Through Sickness and health!"
My Husband was diagnosed with adolescent diabetes at 13. He's struggled with this disease his whole life. But never let it stop him from working hard to take care of his family. 3 years ago Nigel had a heart attack and was diagnosed with Kidney failure. It was a devastating blow to our foundation. He immediately started dialysis 3 days a week. He's recently had to stop working completely due to ongoing complications. Through this all we have remained positive and hopeful.
We started seeking a kidney transplant last year and was met with resistance and really did not feel comfortable with the care we received at our local transplant center so we moved our search to John Hopkins Baltimore! Where we discovered I myself may be the best possible match for my Husband! Without hesitation we went on special diets, changed our lives and did the work. For us both to be healthy enough to do this and keep our family together.
November 2020 Nigel was driving home from treatment and passed out behind the wheel which resulted in the family vehicle being totaled. We are now knee deep in making sure we have extra donors on board in case my medical issues keep me from surgery, constantly back and forth to Baltimore for tests and treatments, dialysis 3 days a week, 5 full time students we often have to take with us back and forth, while doing whatever it takes to maintain bills and family needs on a limited income and ability to work due to appointments and hospital stays.
But after many sleepless nights and tears we realized that at some point we are going to need the help and support of not just family but friends and community for us to be able to get safe and reliable transportation, traveling expenses, and maintain our bills and other expenses. We are asking that you do whatever you can even if it's just a share we appreciate it all!
Thank You,
