Kidney Transplant for Lyn Reinoso

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Celine, and I am la unica hija (as she calls me) of Lyn Reinoso--the most hardworking, selfless, strong, and brave woman I've ever known. Mid-2020, my mom contracted COVID during the pre-vaccine era. This means that her doctors tried every medicine they could to get her out of the ICU, where she was fighting COVID + pneumonia + her other comorbid illnesses and conditions (hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol).

Fortunately, she was able to come home and heal, and unfortunately, her (already compromised) kidneys were severely damaged from the mix of strong medications they gave her. Over the past three years, she changed her entire lifestyle and eating habits to maintain her health while her kidneys were functioning at less than 30%. She said goodbye to all the delicious Filipino food she makes and her favorite beverage (diet coke), and committed to walking at least 4km every day.

Despite the hard work she and her doctors invested to keep her kidneys functioning the best they could, she still developed chronic kidney disease. After what we thought was 3 weeks of the flu, her condition worsened enough to go to the emergency room. The doctors discovered that she had uremia, which is one step away from end-stage kidney failure. This was 3 weeks ago.

She is now living off of dialysis, which she has to do 3 times a week. On the non "dialysis days" she faces sleeplessness, tremors, confusion, nausea, and rapid weight loss. The only solution to a return to healthy, happy life is a kidney transplant.

My mom lives in the Philippines and is unable to return to the States due to unjust and inhumane immigration policies. She does not have access to the organ donation system we have here in the States. Organ donation is an extremely precarious, expensive, and long process in the Philippines. The process requires at least 500,000 Philippine Pesos (~$10,000) upfront.

Life has not been easy for Lyn. If you are close to us, you have seen obstacles she has (and still is) overcome(-ing).

All of this is to say that we desperately need the help of our family, friends, and community. If you are able to donate anything, we are extremely grateful. If not, please send positive thoughts and pray for mercy for Lyn as she fights one of the toughest physical, mental, and emotional fight of her life.
