Hello, my name is Leslie Herrera, and I am making this campaign for my mother Miriam Garnica. My mom has been a dialysis patient for about 4 years now due to high blood pressure and pregnancy. Both of her kidneys no longer function. She goes to her dialysis treatments 3 times a week for 3 hours. Being a dialysis patient has brought additional complications to her health including, extreme weight loss, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and now heart conditions. This has resulted in her losing her job and her interest in doing activities with our family. She is embarrassed by the way she looks due to her weight loss and has lost motivation.
She is currently on the waiting list to receive a kidney, from now to 2 years. Multiple people in our family and I have been tested to be a potential donor and unfortunately, no one has been a match.
Once my mom receives her kidney transplant, there are various expenses that need to be covered. My family and I are not financially stable enough to cover all of those expenses. Those expenses include transportation 3 to 4 times a week to UCLA for 3 months including $14 for parking per visit. There is going to be an approximate of 20 medications that she will need to take after her surgery and some for the rest of her life. Her medications would have to be paid for out of pocket. There is also a possibility that we may need to hire a caregiver to take care of her for those 3 months.
I decided to start this campaign so that any day from now my family and I could be financially prepared for the day of her transplant. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this with friends and family.
Thank you for your time,
Leslie Herrera
