I am Dennis Malacas, 55 years old, a husband and a father of 20 and 16 years old kids. I’ve been through lots of health issues. It was April 2020 when I was diagnosed with ESRD secondary to Chronic Hypertension. May of 2020 when I started daily peritoneal dialysis. It drained slowly and some fluids were absorbed in my body. I had 2 surgeries to reposition and replaced my abdominal catheter but still not working. May of 2022 I was confined in the hospital for a week due to pulmonary edema that made me difficult to breath. Since peritoneal dialysis is not working for me, I switched to hemodialysis 3 times a week. Last week of October 2022 I had series of vomiting and severe abdominal pain. I was confined for 9 days diagnosed with small bowel adhesion due to complications of my previous operations of abdominal catheter. I was on NGT and had an abdominal operation. December 22, 2022 I got a call that there’s a kidney matched for me. The following day I had a kidney transplant, the best Christmas gift I ever received because the new kidney is functioning well. Now I am in the process of recovery. I made this fundraiser to settle my out of pocket obligations specially the balance on my dialysis treatments, to finance the expensive lifetime anti rejection and other medications, and biweekly and weekly bloodworks and medical appointments.
