Kidney Operation for Tracy Doyle

Donation protected
Many of my friends know Tracy Doyle. But what many may not know is that Tracy lives with a very rare form of cancer, called Aggressive Systemic Mastocytosis (uh-GREH-siv sis-TEH-mik MAS-toh-sy-TOH-sis) . A short description of this disease is: A rare condition in which too many mast cells (a type of white blood cell) build up in certain tissues and organs in the body, including the bone marrow, lymph nodes, bone, liver, spleen, and small intestine. Aggressive systemic mastocytosis may get worse quickly and cause severe symptoms and organ damage. Sometimes, it may become mast cell leukemia (a very rare type of leukemia). Aggressive systemic mastocytosis usually occurs in adults. Also called ASM. Life expectancy for someone with this rare condition is usually 5 years. She has managed to beat it for the past 12 years.  It has caused several lessions of calcium build up on her bones throughout her body.  She also suffers from a rare form of Medullary Sponge Kidney in her right kidney. Which causes non stop spasms.  She battles chronic pain daily due to these non-stop spasms and has had 8 surgeries to remove stones. After decades of trying different options her urologist has agreed that its time to remove her right kidney as it has only 32% function left.  I also need to mention that several years ago, in 2009, she was in a major accident and another in 2017. She suffered a hangman fracture in her C2, a broken patella, a complete compound fracture in her right ankle which had to be fused (which also needs to be re-fused as the original fusing did not work) in order for her not to have it amputated, lifelong PTSD and will need a knee replacement in a few years. Recently she has been offered an operation date to have her right kidney removed, however, she and Ed are just not able to meet the financial needs it requires for her to get this much needed life altering operation. Ed recently had a major shift in employment and has gone back to Contract Construction work, however, since he is the only support for Tracy he will not be able to work during her operation and for at least a week afterwards. Tracy is on permanent disability and will not be able to work any type of traditional employment.  The cost of transportation (ferry is free) to and while in Vancouver, hotel for Ed to be able to stay and support Tracy for the week she will need to recover from the operation and parking fees. She has been offered an October 15th date but had to pass due to finances. She is hoping she can accept the next offered surgery date so anytime in the next month that could be available but only with the help of others financially can she accept. I cannot stress just how much my friend suffers from these challenges daily. How much pain she is in constantly. People who know her would never guess what she goes through in a day. She is always there to help others, to give what she can and doesn't hesitate to be there for those who need her. She is fully active in our community, volunteering wherever she is needed. Rarely will you not see a smile on her lovely face. She would never ask for help so that's why I'm doing this. If you can give anything, that would be greatly appreciated by her and Ed. If not, please share.
