Kidney for Vinnie
We are asking for help so Vinnie can continue his kidney treatments.
Over the years Vinnie courageously dealt with several setbacks which would have upended most of us. Diabetes took his legs. Quadruple bypass, congestive heart failure. Two failed marriages left deep scars.
Today, however, if you ask Vin how he is doing he would flash his warm smile and say Great!
And it’s true, he is thankful for many things, not the least of which is his strong devotion to God which he credits bringing his wonderful wife of 23 years.
However, behind the broad smile is a man of 62 who works 24 hours a week as a cashier at a Publix supermarket in Cape Coral, FL. At times he cannot work because of back pain from standing on his prosthetic legs. On top of that, he has end stage renal disease which requires him to have dialysis 3 times per week.
His 72 year old wife, Karen, also works 30 hours a week to help pay the rising medical bills and maintain their modest trailer home. The Lambert’s are a proud and private couple but are now facing medical costs that they need help paying.
Vinnie recently received a new set of prosthetic legs which will allow him to work with more comfort. There is an outstanding balance of several thousand on them. The monthly dialysis bill comes out of their pockets until the annual deductible of $4900 is paid. Even after meeting the deductible, Vinnie is still responsible for a percentage of his ongoing hospital and physician bills.
On the horizon, Vinnie is excited that a family member will be donating a kidney so he can get off of dialysis. However, a kidney transplant will have financial challenges, particularly the cost of anti-rejection drugs which the health insurer only covers 80%.
Simply put, the Lambert’s need some help to make ends meet. They are requesting 45,000
to help defray the cost of his present and future medical needs.
