Kidney for Kim Coxie
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Kim Coxie. I am 68 years old and have three (3) children, 2 daughters and a son. I have 7 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and another one that will be here in April, who are my heart. The Lord, my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren are my world! I have worked as an RN nurse for most of my “able to work years” doing what I love to do most, helping others. I am now in a time of need. I am receiving a Live Donor kidney transplant October 25, 2021 and am hoping for donations to help me pay for the medications, doctor visits, parking, etc. that follow the procedure.
In September of 2018, I was taken to the emergency room due to chest pains and difficulty breathing. I was told I needed a procedure done to my heart. It was a success, but my kidneys failed. I have been attending dialysis for the past 3 years 3-4 times a week. During this time all tests, tasks and processes needed for me to be placed on the donor transplant list were being done. During this process, I was also given the news that only 17% of the world’s population would be a possible match for me. My hope at that moment, but only for a moment, was depleted.
When my youngest daughter was being tested to see if she was a match, we were quickly given the news that I had had so many blood transfusions that my DNA had changed dramatically. In fact, my blood was attacking and killing the cells in my daughter’s blood almost immediately. Talk about a blow to our hope. (But not for long) My son’s wife, Jennifer, of 21 years asked to be considered, and was welcomed. My daughter in law would be the second person tested for a match to give me a kidney and GUESS WHAT...... Out of 17% of the world’s population to be a match for me, SHE IS!!!! Not only is she a match but a 98% match at that! Can I get an AMEN?!! That’s God guys!
After the surgery there are medications required by me to take forever. There will also be doctors’ visits, parking, gas, labs and bills incurred that are not covered by my Medicaid. My post-surgery meds alone will be $3000 monthly. I am asking for help to obtain the finances needed to ensure I have these medications and to fund these visits, parking, labs, and other bills incurred. ANY donation BIG or SMALL will be so greatly appreciated by myself and my family, they will be prayed over and used to help me with the finances incurred after this blessing.
I want to thank you all for reading about my story and considering a donation towards my personal cause. Please pray for Jennifer, myself and the entire surgical team. We know it's in the Lord's hands!
I am ready, I am blessed, and I know that God is GOOD and he will provide! Will you be a part of this with us? Thank you all in advance, during and after.
