Hello everyone
My name is Alexia and I am the mother of two beautiful children. I would like to introduce myself to you and share our journey.
I have a 10-year-old son named Richard Jayden who was born at 36 weeks with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). My pregnancy scans were all normal up until my third trimester when an ultrasound showed enlarged kidneys and low amniotic fluid. We were not sure at the time what the road ahead of us would look like and we were told by his Medical team that it was going to be a bumpy road as our son would required dialysis until he was “big enough” for a kidney transplant. Our son spent his first six months of life in the NICU at Boston Children Hospital. He came home with a bunch of medical “accessories” , as we call them, which included a dialysis machine. He was on peritoneal dialysis every night for 12 hours. He was on a bunch of medications, specialized high calorie formula, and lots of follow-up appointments until his first year of life. He also required a lot of surgeries and inpatient stays…I stopped counting after . At 13 months old, our son was “big enough” to move forward with his transplant and luckily my fiancee was a perfect match. Both were able to go through the process and are doing great post transplant. My son continues to require medications and monthly lab work but his quality of life has changed for the better as he enjoys his life being a kid. My fiancée recovered great and is continuing to live his normal life with one kidney. He does not require any medication or frequent blood work. He continues to live his life doing what he loves to do.
In August 2023, our family welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Anaia Lisseth. My pregnancy scans appeared normal and we were extremely excited to have her with us. Unfortunately towards the end of my pregnancy things took a turn. My baby girl’s kidneys looked enlarged. The doctors informed us that this was consistent with a diagnosis of PKD and that it was very likely that our daughter had the same condition as our first born. My care was immediately transferred to Boston, MA and I was closely monitored. At 37 weeks, the medical team decided to induce me due to low amniotic fluid and risk of immature lung development. My little girl was born and immediately required breathing support and a transfer to the NICU at Boston Children’s Hospital. At two weeks old, our daughter required her first major surgery, bilateral nephrectomies and was automatically put on dialysis to stay alive due to the complexity of her medical diagnosis. We are still in the NICU on dyalisis awaiting for transplant day. The team has decided to move forward with transplant sooner due to her current critical medical state. This journey has been a bit more complicated than our son’s unfortunately. We were asked to start the process of finding a potential donor to save our baby girl’s life; hence why I started this page in hopes to find someone that would be interested in becoming my daughter’s hero and give her a chance at life. All medical costs would be 100% covered and the potential candidate would go through extensive medical exams to ensure that they’re also healthy enough to donate. If you’re interested, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I will also be undergoing the donation process and I can help whoever is interested with it too. We will be extremely grateful to every person that would like to see if they’re eligible candidates.
Until we find the right match, we are asking for a lot of prayers for our princess and for us as we go through this difficult process again.

We have decided to start a fundraiser to help us with the ongoing travel costs as well as any expenses that our potential donor(s) may have. We would like to support them with any food and travel costs while they test to see if they’re a match for our babygirl. Additionally, we would like to provide financial support to the future donor as they recover from surgery. We would like for Anaia’s hero to not have to worry about rent and/or food expenses as they recover. We would like to support them as much as possible. Although no monetary value would fulfill the gratitude we will forever have with them for saving our baby girl’s life, we do not want them to worry about taking time off to recover from surgery.
Thank you to each and every soul that comes across our story.
