Kidney for Abdul

My name is Kai McQueen. My husband Chris will be donating his kidney to our friend, Abdul Shukoor, on June 18th, 2019. We hope to raise $20,000 to cover the medical expenses for both Chris and Abdul.

Abdul is an Afghan refugee who served as a translator for the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. He fled to Turkey in 2015 after the Taliban put a death warrant on him. Our family has lived in Turkey for seven years. Chris is the Country Director for World Relief Germany, a non-government organization here that cares for refugees.  Chris and Abdul met three years ago and have since developed a strong friendship.

Both of Abdul's kidneys failed in late 2018. Adding kidney failure to life as a refugee in Turkey is an extreme burden. Abdul is such a joyful man, but would be very vulnerable without our help. Chris & Abdul went through months of testing, and found that Chris is a compatible donor with Abdul. They were approved for the transplant through Turkey's Government Ethical Committee on May 29th. The surprise to us all was that they scheduled the transplant for less than three weeks away from the approval date! Not a lot of time to get the word out to raise funds.

Chris and Abdul are both happy. They feel like this is God's provision for both of them.  For Abdul to get a new kidney and for Chris to keep a soft heart, it's a win-win! Please pray with us for a successful transplant!

Any funds raised above our goal will be applied towards helping Abdul to get back on his feet after he has recovered.

Thank you for joining in our happiness!
