Living Kidney Donor Fund

My name is Helene Molino and I am raising money for Brunna Martins who is the most special angel on this earth. On October 7, 2020, Brunna selflessly donated her kidney to my husband, Frank. Frank has worked for the City of Coral Springs Parks & Recreation for 36 years and was in end stage renal failure requiring dialysis 7 days a week. The only way to save his life was with a kidney transplant. Brunna did not know our family when she decided to get tested as his match. Thankfully, she was a great match and the surgery was successful. Because of her act of kindness, his life is now saved and he now has a chance to continue to work, grow old with his wife, see his children get married, and meet his future grandkids. 

Brunna is a NICU RN at Broward Health in Ft. Lauderdale and is very active in her unit and a community activist for her preemies at work. She is also a single mom to a sweet 5 year old boy.  She will be out of work for 6-8 weeks while she recovers from the surgery.  The surgery was 3 hours away from her home at the Transplant Center at Advent Health Orlando where she stayed for just over a week. All of the follow up appointments will require her to get to and from Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale.  

There is no financial support for living donors. Brunna does not have any vacation hours to use while out of work. Her short term disability kicks in at 60% of her pay after 3 weeks. 

Though Brunna and I coincidentally work in the same hospital, our first time meeting was the week before the surgery, but she feels like family already. God makes no mistakes. By law, our family can not help her with monetary compensation. So now I am looking to our friends, family, and community to help her make ends meet with basic living expenses and childcare costs while she's off of work recovering.
