Kida's second slipped disc surgery

Donation protected
Hi! I bet if you're here, you're an animal lover and thank you for that. I hope to lighten the financial load for my best friend, Katherine. Her sweet, 5-year-old poodle, Kida, is having a second back surgery for another herniated disc that has caused her to lose all feeling and movement in her back end again. This surgery is saving her life.

Here is the full story

How it started:
On May 6th, Kida's behavior changed within a couple of hours, and it became apparent that she couldn't walk and was in extreme pain. Thankfully there are emergency vets in this area who were able to examine Kida within hours. Unfortunately, the emergency vet determined that Kida had a slipped disc and needed immediate surgery to remove the disc (L2, L3.) However, Katherine had no hesitation in spending the $6000, the cost of just the back surgery.
However, the surgery was only to remove the herniated disc, and it would be a long journey for Kida to walk again. In the beginning, Kida couldn't even express her bladder or bowels on her own. The vet showed Katherine how to express them for Kida as needed. In addition, after the surgery, Kida was required to attend weekly laser and acupuncture therapies, totaling around $200 weekly.
But, again, Katherine had no hesitation in spending what was needed to be paid for her sweet fur baby to be able to get the feeling in her back legs and then hopefully walk again. So, finally, after some therapies, Kida could start going potty on her own again, and we were ecstatic. The first victory in such a difficult situation!

On the road to recovery, Kida also started attending the suggested weekly water treadmill therapy to help her legs get some low-impact movements ($65 per session). Her rehabilitation appointments ($95 per session) were to help her exercise, stretch, and teach Katherine specific activities to help Kida's progress. The multiple weekly therapies had a fantastic effect, and Kida regained some feeling in her back legs and started doing some slight movements in her cute little back paws and legs again.
All of these appointments and Kathrine had it all handled, as she always does, because she's such an independent and prepared person. She didn't complain, and she didn't ask for help, financially or any other aspect. We can all think of someone we know is always the strong one! She is one of them, and I hope to help her with some of the financial burdens because, unfortunately, the road just got rougher.

Now:
On August 8th, Katherine noticed Kida's changed behavior and lack of movement in her back legs again. An emergency vet visit was necessary. The vet found that Kida had slipped a second disc (T12, T13.) This herniated disc means the sweet fuzzy little angel face fur baby, Kida, needs another surgery to remove this one too. This surgery is the same as the first, $6000. She had no hesitation and immediately paid for the surgery Kida needed. Katherine is not new to pet emergencies, having had 2 ACL surgeries on one of her other dogs a few years ago. Katherine has made sure to save for any pet emergencies, and that's amazing; it has genuinely saved Kida's life!

I hope the animal lovers can come together to help lighten the load for my friend and the absolute best pet parent I know

Thank you so much for taking your time to read about the sweet little fuzzy pup, Kida. She gives the best little doggy kisses and makes the funniest noises when she wants to play! If you're a pet parent, please give your pet a little extra love today from us.
