Nine million smallholder farmers produce 60% of the world's tea - yet yields could decline by up to 40% by 2050 as the climate crisis accelerates. The farmers behind the world's most popular drink are the most exposed and the least supported.
Regenerative farming can reverse this: rebuilding soil, boosting biodiversity, cutting costs, and strengthening farms against climate shocks. But for smallholder tea farmers, the barriers are too high - transition costs are steep, tea-specific evidence is scarce, and knowledge on best practice is fragmented and hard to access.
That's why we founded RegenTea.
We're a UK-based organisation (CIO registration underway) building the evidence and infrastructure to scale regenerative tea farming globally. After a first year of expert deep dives into biodiversity, carbon, certification, and financing, we're now launching a pilot with 15 smallholder tea farms to generate the first real-world data on the return on investment of going regenerative.
Your donation will directly fund:
- Initiating our first pilot programme
- A digital monitoring and verification platform to track impact
- Open-access research and toolkits to share learnings
We are not yet a registered charity; we are waiting for the Charity Commission to review our application. Donations are therefore not currently eligible for Gift Aid. Every pound will be held in a dedicated account with transparent reporting.
Our goal: 10,000 hectares transitioned by 2035. It starts with 15 farms.
Fund the pilot. Transform the sector.
