Have you ever wondered how we will establish a Moon or even a Mars base in the near future? Or what is needed to actually start living a comfortable life on another celestial body?

ICEE Space is an international space test, research, and development start-up for future human space exploration that is focused on answering these very questions and many others together with its partners.

After the successful completion of our latest flagship mission, CHILL-ICE II, ICEE Space is now expanding to other frontiers. Our next mission, APICES, will take place in July in the caves of Santander, Spain, in collaboration with Astroland Interplanetary Agency, a Spanish research organization, a multidisciplinary think tank, and innovation hub whose main objective is to envision future living capabilities on Mars and the Moon.

With APICES, the objective is to provide ICEE Space with a test bed to develop standardised procedures for analog missions across diverse extreme environments. The mission’s research focus involves 3 main pillars – Technology, Human Factors, and Bio-Science. For the technology aspect, a new analogue space suit, with added functionalities such as Astro Casco, and rover capabilities will be tested. Human performance and response to various conditions and stimuli in the subsurface environment will be analysed. The Mars simulant cave atmosphere and biology will also be studied and in particular, the usage of UV light to do laundry in these conditions.
