Kick-Start for The Kidd Family
Donation protected
On January 29th, our friends Cleve & Heather Kidd (and their family) experienced a terrible fire at their property in Sundre, Alberta.
Thankfully the family, their animals and the inside of their home were all safe. However, the fire caused an immense loss of a lifetime of work. Several outbuildings including their large shop (and all their contents) were destroyed and other buildings and their home were badly damaged.
They are now sorting through the rubble and trying to identify the extent of their loss for insurance purposes. How do you recall or value a lifetime of accumulated items? Such an impossible task when they have lost so much. Cleve’s tools & welding gear and all of their guiding and outfitting equipment. Horse tack and cattle show supplies and all of Heather's dog training gear.
So much was destroyed - recreational items including their holiday trailer, quad, Rhino and dirt bike, fishing and hunting gear, musical equipment -- even their freezer full of food and some feed for their pets and livestock. This list goes on and on and on -- it is simply devastating.
Thankfully they have insurance that will cover some loss, but it will not be anywhere close to recovering lost items or the full extent of a rebuild. The additional challenge is the extended wait as damage is surveyed and the claim is processed - and the financial burden as some items are desperately needed now.
The Kidds are a family that does so much for the community - in Alberta and beyond - and their range of touch extends across many.
They are not a family that asks for help, they are the family that steps up to help. I hope that we can all show our support through this very difficult time. Many of you have asked how best to help. Right now, I am certain Heather and Cleve know best what is needed most – and easing some of the financial burdens is one way we can help ease their load.
This fundraiser is linked direct to Heather but if you are not comfortable donating through Go Fund Me, you can also donate directly by e-transfer to the Kidd Family at [email redacted]
