People First Campaign
Hi, I’m Peter DeBenedittis. I’m on a mission to heal the hatred poisoning politics. I’m taking President Obama’s advice from his farewell speech for citizens to get involved and run for office. I’m running for Governor of New Mexico as a way to heal our state, and I need your help to do it.
I've spent the last 20 years teaching children to see through the advertising selling them addictive and destructive lifestyles. As a political outsider, I don't owe millions of dollars in favors to big donors. That's why I need your help to fund a campaign with a lot of donations from ordinary people who are ready to stand up and be heard.
I'm asking for $5,000 in the next 30 days to build a professional website and an integrated social media platform.
Current politicians don’t take responsibility for the mess we’re in. Instead, they run attack ads that promote even more spite and bitterness. Even though they hold powerful offices, they blame “the opposition” for New Mexico being at the bottom in income, jobs, health & just about every other bad category of living possible.
The People First Campaign is going to prove if it's possible for an ordinary person, with good conscience, to really change our government for the better. If we don’t do it, New Mexico is destined to be ruled by a special political class made up of recognized names that are beholden to big money selfish interests.
The core of my campaign will be a 3 step plan to heal the hatred poisoning politics. The plan is to teach and encourage authentic listening, being real about how hearing other peoples’ truths makes us feel, and healing divisiveness by actually practicing the golden rule of "Loving thy Neighbor as Thyself." I’m pledging not to tackle the wedge issues that keep people distracted from how we’re being robbed blind until we actually have a few years of trust built up.
Beyond healing the hatred poisoning politics, my political stance is progressive, aligned in supporting many of the issues advocated by Bernie Sanders during his Presidential campaign.
I'm humbled and awed witnessing how many people are becoming politically active right now. Thank you for supporting the People First Campaign. Please understand, this is not "my" campaign. It's OURS. All of us working together is what its going to take to improve the lives of all New Mexicans.
