My mom, Christa Loper Orozco, went to Seattle to undergo a surgery. Before the surgery on June 25th, a full abdominal CT was done and incidentally they found an abnormally large mass on her liver. The surgery was postponed and a biopsy was done. The biopsy was found devastatingly malignant. My mom was diagnosed with terminal primary intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma cancer that’s known to be extremely rare, hard to treat and very aggressive. The tumor is unfortunately involved with all three major vessals that bring in blood flow to the liver. For Seattle and most any Dr we've talked to have told us that this is unresectable. Meaning its uncurable. After lots of research, we have found two potential Dr.s that have been trained and possibly willing to help. Both are back East. With the treatments before and the surgery, she will need to be away for several months. And some of the treatments she would like to try are not covered by insurance which makes it difficult. This will have significant out of pocket costs between treatments, travel, lodging, etc. Every hospital care coordinator we’ve had contact with all expressed urgency to bring together all resources and start some kind of fundraising. Here is our first attempt. Any help is appreciated. Thankyou for all the well wishes and prayers. If you prefer Venmo, you can Venmo me or my mom directly.
Thankyou so much,
Hope
