Hello Everyone! I m Sunny Borg Cakal, the wife of Yunus Cakal, the man who is on the journey to try to kick cancer. Yunus is a 6th grade science teacher & soccer coach @ Way Cross Middle School. He’s also a loving husband and father to our son and his 2 bonus children.

I have wrote this a few times, even with the help of others, but each time I felt like it was impersonal. I want everyone to know what a great man my husband is. But this story isn’t about me or my opinions, it’s to tell you his story.

Everyone knows cancer isn’t prejudice when it picks its victims. Sometimes you don’t even get a warning sign or feel sick. It just sneaks in like a thief in the night and tackles you, and then your life gets turned upside down in an instant.

In less than a month Yunus has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He has had surgery, CT scans, blood work, let downs, referrals to other facilities, more surgery along with more scans and test. Our next step is intense chemotherapy!

I never thought we would go through something like this bc when you’re a young couple you don’t think these types of things happen in your early life. But boy were we wrong!! We are staying positive and praying for a full recovery. This is our first announcement publicly, we have shared the news with some of our family and closest friends. We ask for your support and prayers during our journey to wellness and thank everyone that has already shown their love and support!
