Kicking Covid to the curb - Fernando Melendres

On November 28th, 2020 Fernando was hospitalized with Covid -19. His is a remarkable and extraordinary story. COVID 19 does not have a good prognosis once someone is vented; the mortality rate is very high. Fernando was vented for 9 + weeks and in a medically induced coma. His wife, Adriana demonstrated unwavering faith in keeping him on life support, determined he would survive despite the poor prognosis. Monday 3/1 the story of his transfer out of ICU made local news. His survival speaks to the huge effort by our health care team at Renown and to the steadfast support of his family and friends. Currently Fernando is still in the hospital in the cardiac unit but we have complete faith he will continue to kick Covids butt to the curb. 
Fernando and his wife Adriana are among the kindest, most helpful humans one could ever hope to meet. They serve this community by providing service to local community members through the business they run together.  If you are lucky enough to have met them, you know they go above and beyond all expectations. So please join this community effort and help them on his journey towards a full recovery as he continues to kick Covids butt to the curb.

And in case you are wondering, I am Angela. I am a Public Health nurse with Washoe County Health District and I am one of the lucky ones who's life has been touched by Fernando and Adriana.
