My Dad, our family’s hero, has been battling cancer for as long as I can remember.  This winter he has been in Florida with my mom. Just recently he is unable to walk due to sciatic pain. His days are in his house in Florida and most days he can’t get off the couch. Our family found out he is unable to return to Maine to the house he loves because he can’t walk down stairs. The stairs down to the house need to be replaced with a long ramp so he can use his walker.  He has given so much to our family, to friends and neighbors. He never complains, never tells us about his pain or discomfort. With his monthly medicine and PT expenses there is no extra money to build a ramp, or make his home handicap accessible. I’ve been trying to think how I can help, I went on a long run and I started to come up with a plan.  A “run a thon!!”  I am asking for donations or pledges to help pay for a ramp to replace the stairs. Please help me raise money so we can get his home more handicap accessible. For 17 years our brave Papa has been fighting cancer with grace, dignity and strength.  Sunday May 5th my sister Alicia and I will run 17 miles for our Dad.
