March update:
One week post surgery caleb is recovering amazingly. We did get some new/worse news. They initially thought he had a wilms tumor and final pathology showed his tumor was a result of clear cell sarcoma stage 3 maybe 4 pending three more test. So we are looking at short term radiation and chemo for 8-12 months. This is going to be hard on us. But we are encouraged by all the love and support we have been given as well as financial support. We are getting robert to graduation in May and I'm going to do my best to stay at home with Caleb as much as possible. Thank you all! Xoxo Calli
One minute life is a breeze, and the next minute it flips upside down and without warning and you are left living a nightmare. For most of us this has not and will not happen, but for the Neyra family their entire world has been rocked.
Last Friday, March 3, a typical fun day at the park ended in tears and a diagnosis of cancer for Caleb Neyra, the baby boy of their beautiful family. Caleb who is 21 months old was diagnosed with a Wilm's tumor (nephroblastoma- tumor on his kidney). This brought their entire family, friends, and coworkers to their knees in prayer.
Caleb is a FIGHTER! He had his kidney removed on Wednesday March 8 and is recovering well. While in surgery he also had a port placed for chemotherapy so that he can begin treatment soon.
Calli and her husband Robert are both currently living in his hospital room. Neither are able to work and they are burning through any paid time off they have. They are also taking care of their 6 year old daughter, Riley, who may be taking this harder than anyone! To make matters even worse, Robert is in his last semester of college for his Bachelor's degree and is missing classes too.
The reason I share this story with you is to ask for your help. We are raising money to support the Neyra family and Caleb's treatment to kick Cancer. What lies ahead is unknown, but having some financial peace will be a huge help to all of them. Please pray for this sweet family and Caleb's journey in beating cancer. If you are able to make a donation, all of the money will go towards the family's financial needs and hospital bills.
