Ronda's Fight

In September of 2018 our sister-in-law Ronda Pensero, Mark's wife, was diagnosed with Mouth Cancer, also known as "oral cavity cancer". In October 2019 she underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor and then underwent months of Radiation Therapy. In June of 2019 Rhonda was told she was "cancer free" but continued to feel pain and discomfort in her jaw.
In the weeks to come, Rhonda steadily began to lose weight on top of the weight she had already lost due to the surgery and months of radiation. She just recently received a feeding tube and was referred to a specialist in Philadelphia, PA - Dr. David Cognetti at Jefferson University Hospital. Unfortunately for our dear sister-in-law and brother, the news is not what we have been praying for. The cancer has spread, and is now embedded in a blood vessel in the back of the mouth.
Surgery is not an option for Rhonda because she simply is not strong enough to endure a second surgery or the reconstruction surgery that will need to follow. Chemotherapy will begin immediately for Rhonda as this is her only option at this time .
First and foremost, my siblings and I are asking for prayers for our our sister-n-law, Rhonda and our brother, Mark. My entire family believes in the amazing "Power of Prayer" and what it can do. So please, please pray for Rhonda.
Secondly, my siblings and I decided to put this GoFundMe page together to help Rhonda and Mark offset many of the continuous and ongoing expenses such as: medical, transportation, lodging, in-home care, and day to day living expenses. Rhonda has been unable to work since her initial diagnosis in September of 2018. This has been a very long, difficult 11 months for the both of them.
We are sure there will be many more unknown expenses ahead for Rhonda and Mark, so on behalf of the entire Pensero family, we're all so grateful for your generosity and prayers!
