Kick this Cancers Butt!
Hi! My name is Bridget Dunnigan. My Dad, Craig Dean Sager..."Slag..."Three Finger's" was recently diagnosed with the big ugly "C". I will never forget the day he called me and told me the news. I was devastated, you always hope and pray it never happens to you, or your family. Your heart always breaks when its your friends or their loved ones. Dad was diagnosed with what they call Multi-Myeloma. It's like a bone cancer to simplify. 60% of Dad's bone marrow has been replaced with "MM" cells. Normally the cells should be compromised of 4 parts, not 1. Dad has also suffered from a lung disease called sarcoidosis for the last several years which affects his lungs so that doesn't help matters. Dad complained of back pain all winter long, never really had much testing done, was referred to a chiropractor, sports medicine massage and muscle relaxers....long story short, that Dad's back was actually this damn cancer. His bones are very brittle, on May 18 he was slammed in between 2 elevator doors which resulted in a T8 fracture. Lastly, Dad was diagnosed with another dumb disease called Amyloidosis. It's a disease I need to do some research on, but from what I know it's not a good one, but has a wonderful Dr. on board at Mayo working with him. Dad has been undergoing chemo in Bismarck, had a consult at Mayo see what future plans are. He had to fly as he is not able to sit in a car long enough to get there. Plans are to do a stem cell transplant early fall. There are going to be a lot of back and forth trips to Mayo. My step mom describes my Dad the best..."Nice guy, somewhat self conscious, always be polite and don't cause a fuss." Lori has been absolutely amazing through out all of this. She has kept everything going. We could not have got where we are with out her! My Dad did not want me to do this Go Fund me deal, but I know they are going to need the help with traveling expenses and all the medical bills that will be piling up. If you don't want to donate financially that is just fine...but please send a prayer up for our Dad, step Dad and Husband, and maybe give him a word of encouragement. As Chris LeDoux would say.... "I am tougher than the rest" that is my Dad. Thank you!
