MY STORY:
My name is Cassie Nielsen-Guilliams. I am a 32 year old single mom to a perfect, beautiful little 8 year old boy! He is my entire world!! I unfortunately don't have the support I wish I did during this time as my parents both passed already (cancer and heart attack). I am reaching out in hopes of receiving some support from my community and others with my medical costs. I am a very private person and independent so doing this is actually very hard for me. I don't want to appear like a failing mother or person, but one person can only do so much during tough unexpected times like these. Everyone's encouraged me to stay strong and ask for help, so I am.
I was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago, and had to make some tough decisions about the approach and treatment plans with my doctors. Our plan is to take the first step with a Double Mastectomy and tumor removal surgery. I am looking at 8 hours (minimum) of surgery on November 30th, a week in the hospital and then several months off of work at home recovering and doing follow up care and treatments. Given the extensive surgery and needing 3 surgeons there at once, we aren't able to do it before November 30th, unfortunately. I also have a blood clotting disease and small cell heart disease so they will have to be diligent while treating me. I am going to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family and then fight! I am a fighter and I will not quit! I will make it through this! If for no other reason.... my beautiful 8 year old boy and 2 year old puppy dog!

COSTS/PLANS FOR DONATIONS:
I will have an annual out of pocket deductible of 7,000 for 2018, and then I'll approach the same next year in 2019 with it being only a month after we start, prescriptions, co-pays, traveling costs, and the loss of my wages while off which can be anywhere from 3,000+ depending. The double mastectomy alone is 20,000, and then the other costs. I will have the ongoing and continued treatment, surgeries, and more that may/will follow but are not determined until after we start the process and after surgery. That's why I estimated 30,000 to raise, to at least cover the costs I know that are for sure coming at a minimum. Plus I have done some research. So I am early stage and the 30K wont be enough but it will get me a strong start!!
A study published by American Health & Drug Benefits compared insurance claims from various women who had undergone breast cancer treatment and found some startling results.
The average cost seen within the first year after receiving a diagnosis were as follows:
* Stage 0 - $60,637
* Stage I/II - $82,121
* Stage III - $129,387
* Stage IV - $134,682
I cant even begin to express my gratitude and appreciation for anyone considering sharing this, or donating to my Cancer Fight.
How to Share or Be a Part of my Cancer Fight:
*To help me get the word out, you can share my link with anyone you feel may be interested in the cause.
*You can write me or pray for me.
*You can donate, if you want to donate, you can donate to my GoFundMe and My family will use the funds to help pay and keep my medical treatment going. We are happy to update you on progress and things as we go too!
Anything you are willing and able to do is beyond appreciated!
Here's to kicking cancer's butt!!!
