Meet My Mom
Hello, my name is Ny-Jah and I am writing this gofund in the efforts of trying to help my mom. For some of you who may know my mom, Kia Maylor, you would probaly say she's a loving and generous person. Many of you also know her as a dedicated mom and wife, who loves helping others find health and wellness through her Yoga and Pilates classes or her nutritional counseling. For almost twenty years she has been teaching fitness classes, giving nutritional counseling and now, sharing health tips and info through social media and workshops. With all that she tries to do for others, now our mom is in need of help. From the outside, it looks as if she's a healthy and vibrate person, but the truth is, for the past ten years, she has been battling a debilitating illness, and watching her health deteriorate while going misdiagnosed by countless healthcare professionals. Novemeber of last year, my mom was finally diagnosed with Chronic Lyme disease(CLD). Although she was relieved to finally find out the cause of her mysterious symptoms, she could not fathom the challenges ahead. Most days she struggles to get out of bed to get my sisters and I off to school. I watch her starve herself half the day to keep from feeling ill and unable to work. Then, after work she has very little energy to do anything. The rest of her time is spent on managing doctor appointments, taking medicine and supplements, tending to countless symptoms and researching better ways to improve her health.

What is Chronic Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease is a illness that is caused by a bite from what was once beleived to only be a tick. Unfortunately, new research has determined that ticks are not the only carries, and that some, spiders, mosquitos and flies are carriers as well. When caught and treated very early, like within  4 weeks, most cases can be eridicated with multiple rounds of various antibiotics. Chronic Lyme however, is the result of Lyme being undiagnosed and left untreated. At that point the bacteria has gone into hiding, suppresses the immune system, and began to attack organs. Lyme thrives off muscles and joints. It especially likes the brain, heart, eyes, and central nervous system. What's scary is that, when left untreated, CLD can lead to blindness, hearing loss, pyschosis, paraylis, heart failure and even dealth. That's why we are asking for your help.

I Watched My Mom Become Ill
I didn't always have a sick mom, but if you asked my two younger sisters, unfortunately, this is the only mom they know. Watching her eat the same food for months and years for fear of not being able to function from food reactions. I was just about six years old when my mom lost almost 60 pounds after becoming ill. I watched her suffer from chronic stomach pains every since then. We would go out to eat and she would only order hot tea. On Thanksgiving, birthdays and holidays, if it was a good year for her, she would bring her soup and watch the rest of us indulge and talk about how good the fried chicken, sweet potato pie and macroni and cheese were. Even on the bad years she would go to save face for our family and rarely would she complain. For years she was told she had a number of illnesses that was causing her pain such as IBS, fybromyalgia, Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth, Pelvic floor dysfunction, colitis and many more. She went to muptiple doctors and nutritionist. She has taken many different natural and conventional antibiotics, steriods, and herbal supplements. As you can probably guess nothing has worked. But she kept fighting and beleiving she would one day get better.



My mom's current symptoms 
Brain: Migraines, dizziness, confusion, light and noise sensitivity, difficult reading and writing, forgetfulness
Heart: Heart papultations, artery blockage
Nervous system: tingling and numbness in hand, arms, legs and feet, nerve pain, insomnia, chronic fatigue
Joints & muscle: joint pain in knees, hands, shoulers, feet, ankles, toes, sometimes difficulty walking, deep muscle pain (feels like beaten, pain in hips, back and pelvic, pain to touch, TMJ, knee locking, lost of shoulder motility
Gastrointestinal: Unable to eat a normal diet, intestinal cramping, malabsorption and malnutrition, weight loss, nausea

Treatment is Imperative
With the correct treatment under a Lyme specialist called a LLMD(Lyme Literate Medical Doctor), our family is hopeful for my mom's recovery. The problem is, because CLD is a complex illness, treatment is extensive, taking many months to years to recovery and unfortunately is not covered through health insurance companies. Thankfully my mom has found two caring practioners who have established a detailed protocol that includes, medication, supplements, intravenous treatments, ozone and other therapies. We understand there is a long road to recovery, but we are sure if given the right treatment with the ability to pay for it, our mom can see this through.
