Kiaren and his Mum
Donation protected
Hi folks, firstly THANK YOU for coming here to help with this.
My son Kiaren's Story:
When Kiaren was a baby, 8 weeks old, he was diagnosed with a condition called Biliary Atresia. This is a very serious liver disorder that meant he had to have a major operation to receive a procedure that could keep him alive until he could have a full liver transplant.
For 14 years of his life Kiaren lived with daily medications, his skin was a bright yellow jaundiced colour that caused him to be bullied and taunted all his early school years.
He lived with constant visits to hospital, needles jabbing for blood and many tests and procedures to simply keep him alive until he reached the top of the transplant list.
That happened one night after 14 years. Another young soul died and Kiaren received the gift of that person's liver.
We will always be deeply grateful to that person and their family.
Kiaren is now 29 years old and once again in hospital for major surgery.
The situation currently is that the transplant, which of course involved major invasive surgery, caused internal issues that now have surfaced and required another major operation to repair damaging internal scarring.
Horrific pain and the inability to take any food or water for several days are where he is now.
He has received the operation that once again has saved his life and he is currently undergoing other procedures to stabilise the condition.
Kiaren will be in hospital for at least another week, likely longer and then faces a long road to full recovery with things like special dietary requirements, physio and other support systems.
Currently Kiaren is in a Melbourne hospital many kilometers from his home. His mother is by his side and has to fund daily expenses for accommodation, food and transport.
By the time this is done and they can go home several thousand dollars will disappear. I am helping where I can but have very limited resources myself.
I am reaching out to ask if any of you can help, with whatever you can spare, however small to help his Mum through this very difficult time and to also get them back home and able to focus on healing as best and as quickly as possible.
Whatever you can do will be most gratefully received.
All funds will go directly to Kiaren's mum to help with her overwhelming costs and to his recovery support that will take at least several weeks and quite possibly a few months
