In 2025 I plan on trekking to the sacred valley of Peru.
Living for a month totally 'off-grid,' I will take part in a range of sustainable activities which aim to aid some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
Rural Peru is among some of the poorest regions on our planet. Poverty rates can exceed 50% in certain areas. 4 out of 25 regions in Peru see widespread lack of infrastructure, with up to 80% of people lacking clean water. 3 in 5 children in rural Peru have no education whatsoever. It is these conditions which have prompted my mission to Peru:
The 30-day itinerary will allow me to undertake several initiatives to improve infrastructure and learning environments for local children, including but not limited to:
- Renovating houses and constructing toilet blocks
- Improve educational facilities for children in the area
- Primary school development and building guinea pig houses.
Simultaneously I will be able to learn about the rich cultures and traditions that the communities have to offer.
