Hello. As you may have heard, my sister, Kiana, was in a traumatic accident on Monday evening, May 16th when she was kicked in the face by a horse. She sustained multiple facial fractures. The doctor worded it as a shattered fracture of her nose and orbital area, cheek bones and upper jaw; deep open wounds, small injury to her brain, concussion and severe R eye injury.
We had a follow up with the Oral Maxillofacial surgeons who scheduled her surgery on Wed, May 25th. They explained the procedure and informed it could take up to a year to fully heal.
We have a follow up with the Ophthalmologist on Tuesday, May 24th. Kiana has not regained her sight in her right eye. The doctors have given us a low prognosis for restoral of her vision, but we are hoping as she heals, she will make a full recovery.
We set up this Gofundme for her because she currently works as a contractor with no benefits and has only one week of PTO. This fund will help with expenses while she recovers from this traumatic accident and surgeries, allowing her to concentrate on healing and wellness.
