Kia needs our help!

Hi, I’m Kia’s doggy mom and I’m fighting every way I can to help her! Kia caught Leptospirosis, which can be lethal. Kia caught this from chasing a bunny - which she missed - but ate some of the bunnies “discharge”, which was infected.

For three days, Kia didn’t eat, became very lethargic, throwing up all water she would drink, and ended up losing almost 7 pounds during those 3 days.

Kia spent two days at our vets hospital, but she needed more specialized care to properly test and treat what was making her so very sick.

The vet had us transfer her to Thrive Specialty Hospital, where the doctors and staff have been working 24x7 on Kia.

Kia is being fed through a feeding tube, has a catheter to help her urinate, is on an IV drip for fluids, pain medicines, has had ultrasounds and X-rays.

If you are not familiar with Leptospirosis, please educate yourself on it. It is highly contagious - even to humans. There is a vaccine for it, but our previous vet never educated nor offered it to us.

Kia’s medical bills grow every day. “Friends” have said I should walk away from Kia and just let her die- cause she’s “just a dog”.

Kia is NOT just a dog! Within two years, I lost both my parents, my husband was killed in a car accident, and my best friend died.

My two boys and Kia are my world! Kia has brought so much love, laughter and healing into our lives. I did not bring Kia into our family just to turn my back and give up on her because she is sick. I refuse to give up on her. ❤️

Kia is only 3 1/2 years old - way too young! She is such a kind, loving, affectionate and smart dog.

The doctors say Kia has an 80% chance of recovering from this, but that she has a tough road ahead of her. I am trying every thing I can to make that 100% and get her back to being that playful, loving emotional support dog for me and my children.
