Ari Needs a New Car

Hi, my name is Zy, and I am the father to the most amazing little guy, Ari. He was born with an extremely rare disease called Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. This means that he has a degenerative condition, causing his muscles to waste. He will never walk and must get around in an electric wheelchair.

We purchased a van five years ago and paid for its modifications to allow us to move Ari and his wheelchair around. The NDIS will not fund the modifications to a vehicle unless it is relatively new. This meant we were ineligible to apply for these changes.

The current Hyundai we are using is reaching its end of life, already having the engine blow up once and not feeling safe to take this more than short distances to school and home again. Soon Ari will become too tall to fit in our iMax. This vehicle has served us well, but we need to upgrade.

I am not used to asking for help personally, but I would not have bought such a vehicle if we were not in this situation. To apply for the modifications, we have purchased a Kia Carnival, the most suitable vehicle for long-term use and probably the industry standard for disability. Our family has had to finance the car, and we are setting up this gofundme to help with the large amount of credit we have had to extend.

Ari was recently invited to be one of the Telethon Little Stars, and I was so proud of his work in helping raise money for the sick kids of Western Australia.

Now it is my turn to ask for help raising money to help Ari continue his work in the community and attend all the events and fundraisers so we can support WA charities. And Ari as a growing boy, to get him safely from A to Z.
