Cancer Treatments

Dear friends, colleagues and former Cowen co-workers.

My name is Keith Milko. I am 55 years old with a fantastic wife and 3 amazing teenage boys. I was a Director at Cowen Prime Brokerage back in 2017. I loved my job, the people I worked with and especially the company I worked for.

In June of 2017, I was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of stage IV prostate cancer. It had metastasized into my bones and multiple lymph nodes and other areas in my abdomen. I had radical surgery, months of radiation, immunotherapy, proton therapy and continued endocrine therapy.

Cowen was amazingly empathetic in supporting me with access to the best treatment I could possibly find. I truly believe that if it wasn’t for the support & compassion I received from Cowen, I would not be here today!

I continue to deal with collateral damage from the radiation and treatments I needed to keep me alive. I lost my left kidney, have had severe blood clots, lymphedema & severe bladder damage. Now, my other kidney is failing. There is more, but trust me, I will save you from the details.

After a quiet period, my cancer has returned. There are bone lesions on multiple places on my spine as well as my ribs and a few infected lymph nodes.

As I ramp up the battle again, I am asking for your help. Until recently, I have been under Cowen’s health insurance plan. But at this point, I’m now at the mercy of COBRA health insurance. My monthly insurance premiums are actually more than my mortgage!

I’m in the process of applying for Medicare as well as other government programs for assistance, however these plans will not cover some of the specialized treatment I need to keep my recurring cancer at bay.
