For a Helping Hand in Sue's Chapter Against Cancer

Donation protected

On behalf of the Mor Yang family, we would like to ask for your prayers, love, and support for our beloved daughter, sister, and aunty, Sue Yang, who is in a battle for her life. We are genuinely asking for any donations, big or small, to help Sue and her husband so they can focus on fighting this battle and not stress about their current financial hardship. Life just has its way of testing us. Sue is a full time student in nursing school and her husband was working to support them. We were all awaiting her expected graduation in May 2020. Due to the unexpected circumstances, her husband will have to take some time off to be by her side.

For those of you who knows Sue, she is ambitious and someone who is always striving for what’s best, not just for her, but for everyone around her. Let us join hands and help support Sue as she begins this chapter of her life. Your love and support is what will give Sue and her husband strength.
     Thank you, Mor Yang family

The story:
On September 11th, 2019, the message was delivered to my husband and I that they found cancer cells in a biopsy that was done during an emergency endoscopy. I had the procedure done after an x-ray, which revealed that I had a gastric obstruction. The month beforehand, I experienced nausea and vomiting, resulting in me losing over 20lbs. Prior to that I was diagnosed with H. pylori and completed the treatment, thinking that everything was good from there on out. But I have been experiencing symptoms since November of 2018, symptoms were similar to gastro esophageal reflux disease: burping, gas pain, epigastric pain in the middle of the night, and can’t eat food that were spicy. I was prescribed H2 blockers and PPIs but symptoms never completely went away.

On that day, September 11th, 2019 we got the news, but I still tried to make it to my pediatrics clinical because I am a nursing student. I fought so hard to try to not miss school but the realization hit me hard that I needed to take the semester off and take care of my health.

I was admitted to the hospital on September 12th, due to continuous vomiting which prevented me from consuming anything. So many options were thrown at us, whether to start chemotherapy treatment or do surgery. September 20th, I had gastric bypass surgery to allow a pathway for food to travel so that I can eat, anyone who knows me knows that I love to eat delicious food, but with an obstruction it would be hard for me to get my nutrients while getting chemo treatment, so we opted for surgery first. During the surgery, the surgeon found that I have Stage 4 cancer, signet ring cell type. Chemotherapy will be beginning soon.

We thank everyone who has been and will be such a support to us during this tough time. It’ll be a journey that we will have to take one day at a time, with as much hope and positivity in mind as possible.
Thank you, Love Sue and Toua
