Today is my mom’s birthday, but instead of celebrating, she is facing one of the hardest challenges of her life. Last week, she suffered a terrible fall that left her with a severely broken and dislocated ankle. Both her tibia and fibula were broken, and after resetting the bones, she had to undergo surgery to stabilize the injury with a plate and 12 screws. On top of that, she badly sprained her other ankle- leaving her completely unable to walk.

After five difficult days in the hospital, she was transferred to an inpatient rehab facility. Unfortunately, the experience there has been traumatic and abusive. We are doing everything we can to move her to a safer, closer, and more supportive place to heal.

Before this accident, my mom was incredibly active— always on the move, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying life. Now she is bedridden, in pain, and facing at least six weeks of recovery. The mounting medical bills, rehab costs, and expenses for her care are overwhelming.
