My name is John Schmidt, my cousins Jessica and Michael Stanley’s daughter Ellie Jade has been suffering from frequent seizures since 8/24. I have organized this fundraiser to help raise money to help Jessica and Michael with mounting hospital bills as well as day to day expenses. Below is the last update on Ellie’s battle with her seizures.
For all my prayer warriors this is the latest update from Michael Stanley and Jessica Lynn Stanley please continue praying for Ellie Jade and
the family and her group of doctors.
Ok y’all bear with me Ellie’s visit today was a lot of information and steps to hopefully get seizures controlled and some answers.
Today Ellie’s medical team prescribed a new medication that Ellie has not had. Tomorrow we will begin yet another new medication while tapering out one of her current medications along with adjusting dosage and timing of current medications. Ellie is currently back to 9 seizures a day that are breaking through the best medications for epilepsy for her age and weight.
With the types and amount of medications Ellie is getting she should not be having any seizures at all. Ellie’s seizures are medication resistant. Ellie is strong, she is a fighter!
We did receive the genetic testing results and it was negative. Meaning no genetic reason or answers for the seizures.
Her medical team seems to think that Ellie may or could have an abnormal place in the grey matter of her brain on the left frontal lobe area where the seizure activity is coming from. So moving forward depending on how she responds to this new medication will determine her medical team’s next steps.
Over the next few weeks they are going to start more testing and imaging to see or confirm what they seem to think is causing Ellie’s seizures. This will include another EEG. Another MRI that uses a stronger magnet for imaging with contrast and a PET scan. With this testing and imaging it will give them a more in depth precise look at the area of the brain that is causing her seizures. If the testing and imaging confirms what they are thinking they will potentially operate and remove that area.
Today has been quite emotional but also gives us hope for relief and answers.
The days have been difficult, emotional, and hard. But you all have played a special part in helping us to keep our faith and remain strong.
We ask you all to please continue to pray for Ellie to get some relief from these seizures and have little to no side effects from medication changes, our family to remain faithful and strong, and her medical team to have the knowledge to help our Ellie!
Thank you all for your prayers love and support
If you feel like you can help please donate. Thank you!
