Hello, my name is Karlie. My niece Khloie was diagnosed with Sporadic Burkitt’s Lymphoma, please help if you can for expenses that will be coming in the long hard road ahead. She will be at Vanderbilt children's hospital once a month for a week at a time during her chemo treatments. During this time my sister will be missing quite a bit of work as she cares for every day needs. Back and forth trips, gas, food, and other things that will come along the way. We will appreciate anything even if it's just your thoughts and prayers during this time. Below is what my sister has shared that describes some of their journey so far.
—>On Jan 3rd, I took Khloie to urgent care over throwing up and not feeling good. She had not been feeling good on and off for two weeks she never ran a fever and it was not continuously a thing so we just thought she had a cold or issues with allergies or the stomach bug or something along those lines, so we waited it out some to see if it would resolve but turns out it is much more. The urgent care PA (who I am so very thankful for) decided that she was dehydrated and didn’t like where her abdomen hurt so he said he would like for us to go to the ER for more testing to make sure it wasn’t more serious then the strep she tested positive for…his thoughts was her galbladder and so We went to the ER.
At the ER they ran testing and did a caravan as well as fluids because yes after throwing up for several days she was dehydrated. The CT came back to show that Khloie had two large abdominal masses and some free fluid in her abdomen. We was notified that due to her testing and vitals we would be getting airlifted to Vandy Peds. That night the helicopter wasn’t clear to fly, so the Pediatric Ambulance from Vandy transported us to the critical care unit. We was admitted into the PICU for more testing and a blood transfusion.
The next several days was a complete blur of testing and blood work and surgery. We became stable and was moved to a specialized floor.
—>On Monday January 9, we was told that Khloie had Sporadic Burkitt’s Lymphoma, and we have started intense chemo this week.
The game plan is to cure her cancer with intense Chemotherapy over the next several months with several hospitalization and test and all that’s involved for helping cure her cancer.
This came out of no where….we have no idea when it began, how long she has had it, or why. We are dealing with a ton of emotions as we process this huge life changing diagnosis.
We appreciate all those that have reached out to check in on us and sent thoughts and prayers. Thank you all…and We ask that you continue to keep Khloie, myself, and her little brothers as well as our family in your thoughts and prayers.
