Khazi Leigh Davis

My name is Jennifer Davis, as I write this, I am in ICU at Ochsner in New Orleans, La trying to recover from having a liver transplant. I could not stay in recovery as planned because after receiving the the most devastating news a parent could receive, I started experiencing seizures. As I try to process everything and stay strong so I can heal physically, I’m starting to feel like I’m fighting a losing battle.

Because of the condition I had with my liver I was told that I was never going to be able to have a baby. But God blessed me with Khazi Leigh Davis on 3/23/2021. The most beautiful angel God had in heaven, he sent her to me. Sweet and so full of love and life. I never thought I would have a chance at that kind of pure love. God allowed me to experience motherhood and I’ll always be forever grateful.

While I was in surgery on 10/26/23 no one could possibly prepare me for what I had to be waken up to. My baby had gotten a hold of an unattended firearm. Going into this procedure I was excited because I had to go through a long and strenuous process of a liver being available for me. So, I just knew once I'm out of recovery I would be healthy and ready reach new goals with my baby Khazi.

Once I was informed of what happened I was certain I was not going to make it. My family is the only thing I have to keep me going. I'm trying to focus on the memories that I was able to make with her. I'll never understand why it had to happen to my baby.

I'm already deep deep in medical bills with my own health and now I have to lay my angel Khazi to rest.

Once I’m released from the hospital, I have to spend time in a rehabilitation facility until I am able to care for myself properly. While I’m there I plan on trying to get as much accomplished as I can to ensure I can move into a different home, so I won’t have to go back where my baby took her last breath.
