Khazi Heart Surgery Fundrasier

Hi I am Kelly and I have started this fundraiser to help out my bestie Wendy and her beautiful sweet boy Khazi.

Khazi is facing serious complications from Valley Fever. This horrible illness is common in dogs and people in the state of Arizona. While most go through this illness without much issue and only need antibiotic support. This is not the case with Khazi.

Khazi suddenly started having issues with his heart as well. This was managed with the Valley Fever medication and checkups with his cardiologist. Things were going well and then on Monday Khazi just did not seem right.

On Tuesday, April 18th, Wendy rushed Khazi to Midwestern University Animal Health Institute because he had labored breathing and was just not himself. Thank goodness Wendy did because Khazi was in serious trouble. The vet staff pulled nearly 3 cups of fluid from Khazis from his heart sac. The vets were unsure why so much and so suddenly, but this was now a very serious matter and Khazi needed to have a pericardiectomy (the removal of the heart sac) as soon as possible. Surgery would happen the next morning.

This is a very invasive but necessary procedure for Khazi. There was no other option other than euthanasia and Khazi was not ready to take that trip yet. He was still a very happy boy telling Wendy he was not ready to go and Wendy was not ready for that option yet either.

Khazi is Wendys Souluki, her heart dog! He is a gentle and sweet boy who was part of her first Saluki experience along with Khazi's brother Uriel. Both boys made their way into rescue at no fault of their own and were quickly adopted by Wendy.

I am hoping we can raise the funds to help Wendy recoup the huge vet bill that has come from this horrible nightmare. Wendy would be the first to be on here offering funds or even starting an auction to help another dog in need. She has done this for many dogs, many rescues and of course for her favorite Princess, Amara who needed help when she needed a double amputation. It is time to now support Wendy as she has supported so many others.
