Khayla's Recovery
Donation protected
I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my sister LaKeisha for the care and rehabilitation of her daughter, my niece, Khayla.
Khayla is in her senior year at Winston-Salem State University majoring in Exercise Science. She is a beautiful, kind hearted, motivated young lady. Through no fault of her own, everything has been put on hold.
Khayla's car was t-boned by a tow truck earlier this week. She suffered multiple fractures primarily in her pelvis, hip, and thigh and some smaller fractures to her spine.
She has already endured 2 surgeries that will hopefully prove successful. They are still working to stabilized her spine, but thankfully there is no spinal cord involvement. She is obviously in a lot of pain.
She will be in the hospital at least another week and will probably move to an inpatient rehab facility for several more weeks. She will not be able to stand, walk or put weight on either leg for 3 months. Hopefully after that several more months of physical therapy will get her up and walking.
Our family would like to thank everyone who has reached out already. The outpouring of prayers, love, and calls and visits has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Khayla has touched so many lives during her 21 years on this Earth and anyone who knows her knows that she is a special person.
The bills are adding up daily for medical bills, x-rays, surgeries...Soon there will be rehab bills, more doctor's visits, medical equipment...
Any amount you can give would help my sister pay some of these expenses. Prayers are greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you!
